The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) and the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA) are pleased to co-sponsor the eighth annual Infectious Diseases Research Careers Meeting, a program designed to help foster the next generation of infectious diseases physician scientists. The two-day meeting for ID fellows and medical students will take place from June 6th – 8th, 2019 in Bethesda, MD. Lodging and travel costs will be provided for meeting participants.

Medical and MD/PhD students with a demonstrated interest in research are invited to apply. The meeting will begin with an exciting keynote address from NIAID Director Dr. Anthony Fauci, and participants will have the opportunity to hear from leading ID physician- scientists about frontiers in medical research. Although a final list of speakers has not yet been confirmed, a range of ID research will be represented, including basic, clinical, and translational. The agenda from the 2018 meeting can be found at www.idresearchcareers.org. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear from established researchers on their personal career development path from medical school to their current research, visit the campus of the National Institutes of Health for a tour and to learn about current NIH research projects, and have the opportunity to share their own research with fellow attendees and faculty at a poster session.

Meeting attendance is extremely limited! Apply online by Friday, March 15th, 2019. A complete application will include: 1) your current CV; 2) a personal statement of interest; and 3) a short statement of recommendation from your research mentor, advisor, or faculty member familiar with your interest in research. Selected meeting attendees will be notified shortly thereafter.
